NLC CHARITIES - HOLIDAY SHOP WITH A COP
Student-Athletes Honored at 8th Annual Nancy Lieberman Shop with a Cop Event
Hillcrest High School and Franklin Middle School proudly celebrated a group of outstanding student-athletes who were selected to attend the 8th Annual Nancy Lieberman Shop with a Cop event, held at North Park Mall in Dallas, Texas. These students were chosen not only for their commitment to excellence in athletics, but also for their strong academic performance and leadership, including representation from Special Olympic athletes.
Among the female students in attendance was Kyndall L., a 7th-grade student from Franklin Middle School. Kyndall exemplifies the true meaning of a well-rounded student, participating in band, basketball, softball, and volleyball while consistently maintaining Honor Roll status. Representing Hillcrest High School were Kailey L., Zephora D., and Samaria H., three multi-sport athletes who collectively compete in nearly every female sport offered at the school. All three maintain A averages across their courses and are on track to graduate with an associate’s degree through the Hillcrest E-Teach Program—an impressive achievement that reflects their dedication both on and off the field.
The male athletes selected included Willard A., Jamorris P., Nicholas J., and Chris M., a Special Olympic athlete. Each of these young men plays an important role in supporting their respective athletic programs while upholding high academic standards, serving as positive examples for their peers.
During the event, each student received a $250 Under Armour gift card, courtesy of event sponsors Under Armour and NLC Charities. Local police officers—many of whom are former athletes themselves—spent the day shopping alongside the students, sharing stories, building connections, and fostering positive relationships in a fun and supportive environment.
The event was further supported by Coach Palmer, Coach Davis, and Ms. Lisa Smith, who attended to encourage and celebrate the students’ accomplishments. The Nancy Lieberman Shop with a Cop event continues to be a meaningful experience that recognizes hard work, academic achievement, athletic dedication, and community connection, leaving a lasting impact on all involved.
