Below, you will see a few of the most commonly misunderstood questions:

This question is asking if your student participated in UIL or TAPPS Athletics at their previous school between grades 8-12th for their public or private school. Some students have attended schools that do not offer official school sports, but students participated through The Y, club, select, or any outside entities away from the school - these do NOT count as participating for another school. If the student did not participate with an official school team before enrolling at Hillcrest, the answer to #1 is NO.

Yes          No

This question is asking if your child has participated in a magnet school (example: TAG), and IB Program (example: Hillcrest IB or E-Tech) IN GRADES 9th-12th. Attending an IB school in middle school does not impact this question. It is in reference to high school only. If your student is in IB or E-Tech at Hillcrest, the answer is YES. If your student is in the Traditional Pathway at Hillcrest, the answer is NO. If your student attends CI, the answer is NO.

Yes         No

5) This one seems to cause the most confusion. A student may come to Hillcrest and live outside of the attendance zone. This does not mean that the student cannot participate in athletics. The family will provide an explanation, such as "enrolled in IB", to explain why Hillcrest is the school the student is enrolled in. If the parents of the student do not live within the Hillcrest attendance zone, the answer is YES.

Yes          No

This question is asking if you have changed your school enrollment, but have remained at the same address. This may be as simple as, "Student completed 8th grade, and has now changed enrollment to a high school campus, but we have not moved." If Hillcrest is a different school than your child attended last year, but you have not moved, the answer is YES. If your athlete has come to Hillcrest, and your address has changed, the answer is NO.
