NBA DREAMS TO REALITY: DANISS JENKINS

**Hillcrest High School Welcomes Home NBA Alum Daniss Jenkins** On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Hillcrest High School celebrated a proud moment in school history by welcoming home NBA player and alumnus Daniss Jenkins during a special jersey presentation and homecoming ceremony held in the school gymnasium. Students, staff, alumni, and community members gathered to honor Jenkins—currently a member of the Detroit Pistons—for becoming only the second Hillcrest High School player to reach the NBA. The event highlighted not only his professional achievement, but also the lasting impact of his journey from Dallas ISD to basketball’s highest level. As part of the ceremony, Jenkins presented his official Detroit Pistons jersey to the school. The jersey will be permanently displayed alongside his Hillcrest graduation portrait, serving as a symbol of perseverance and Panther pride for future generations. Principal Florie (who was an administrator while Jenkins was a Hillcrest student) formally recognized Jenkins’ accomplishments and welcomed him back to campus as a role model and trailblazer, while the current Head Coach for the boys, Jordon Adams presented Jenkins with a gift from the boys' program. Affectionately known as “Tink,” Jenkins addressed the student body with a heartfelt message about resilience, discipline, and believing in one’s potential. He reflected on his time at Hillcrest and the foundation it provided for his success beyond high school, and took a moment to thank his former High School Coach, Von Harris, who was present and spoke on Jenkins's work ethic. During his career at Hillcrest High School, Jenkins distinguished himself as one of the area's standout players. Competing in Dallas ISD at Hillcrest, he earned multiple district awards, including MVP, and regional honors, was recognized for his leadership on and off the court, and consistently ranked among the area’s top guards. His high school career was marked by academic commitment, competitive excellence, and a reputation as a hardworking teammate—qualities that paved the way for his advancement to the collegiate and professional ranks. Following the ceremony, Jenkins made himself available for interviews with local media, further underscoring the significance of the moment for both the school and the broader Dallas community. The event served as a powerful reminder to Hillcrest students that greatness can begin right at home—and that Panther dreams can reach the NBA. ** Daniss Jenkins and the Pistons (21-5) will take on The Dallas Mavericks (10-17) On 12/18/25 at 7:30pm CST
